![]() ![]() The sony is also a bit smaller of a form factor so if you're worried about that, you might like the sony. You have a TON of options of first and third party lenses and vintage lenses if you so choose. Carrying extra batteries around is not always fun and missing shots because your battery died is a real bummer. The battery life is better on the Sony, especially when using the boosted mode on the Fuji, which a lot of people, seemingly, HAVE to use. It's gonna be better for your wildlife shots, shots of your pets and the video AF is better too, especially when paired with a native lens. There's no issue in terms of photo editing, if you want to use Capture One instead of lightroom for your fuji editing.Īutofocus is still better for the Sony than the Fuji. However, I would say, the benefits for photo are less noticeable than they are for video. Yes, its a win for fuji, especially for slow shutter speed shots and handheld video. It also can do 1080p at 240fps if im not mistaken, which can make for some pretty epic slo mo shots. What it lacks in terms of AF and battery life it does great in image quality, usability and video specs. Has a mic and headphone jack, which is much better for video recording, if you plan to get serious about your video. The kit lens that comes with the Fuji is a beast of a kit lens (much better than the a6400).įor building out a fully decked apsc, hybrid system, its great. However, all the film simulations you can use in the fuji are excellent if you aren't someone who's going to be taking your raws into a post processing software. The Fuji is the much better handling of the camera's, has a joystick for easier AF navigation (if using spot focusing) and your pinky doesnt disappear under the short grip like on the a6400, it has better video quality (given 10 bit, 4:2:2 externally) but if you're a beginner and recording internally, there isn't going to be an appreciable difference here, the image quality out of the 26mp XTrans sensor is gonna give slightly better image quality than the a6400, but again, the difference is going to be negligible. But before you call me out for giving a cop out of an answer, each camera has different strengths. Honestly, I don't really think you can go wrong with either camera. ![]() Which one would you choose between those two ? Do you have other suggestions ? I have considered the a7iii for 2000€ for going directly to full frame (useless for a beginner ?) but it is expensive and a new model could arrive soon. The pictures x trans sensor seems to be more complicated to edit. I don't know if the lack of animal eye focus would be a big disadvantage for pets and wildlife. ![]() On the xs-10, the newer bsi sensor, and ibis are the main advantages. How big of an issue is the lack of ibis on the 6400 ? However many lenses from sigma/tamron do not have ois. On the a6400, you have animal eye autofocus (useful for pets ?) and e mount, which could allow me to invest in lenses and possibly upgrade to a sony full frame one day. I am hesitating between the a6400 and the fuji xs-10, which are about the same price (around 1000€ with kit lenses) and can't make up my mind. I have also in mind to get into astrophotography later. For now, my main shooting interests are landscape and wildlife, pets, family pictures and casual video too. I am looking to upgrade from my smartphone (galaxy s10) and get into real photography.
